Dr. Connie D. Mitchell

Dr. Mitchell earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from Mercer University where she specialized in crisis and trauma. She has presented at the Law & Ethics Conference, New Orleans, LA; International Death, Grief, & Bereavement Conference, La Crosse, WI; SACES Conference, Myrtle Beach, SC; and Tennessee Counseling Association Conference, Nashville, TN. 
While volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association, Dr. Mitchell served as an Ambassador to U.S. Representatives and Senators to bring awareness of the disease. She is passionate about being a voice for caregivers after her own experience of caring for her mother. She attended the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement- AIM Advocacy Forum in Washington, D.C. and advocated for policy changes on Capitol Hill. For her dissertation, Dr. Mitchell researched Native Hawaiian Alzheimer’s Caregivers and their Experience of Anticipatory Grief. 
Dr. Mitchell has also volunteered with the Georgia State Defense Force since 2009, training for natural disasters, search & rescue, and serving the citizens of Georgia. Additionally, she has provided disaster crisis training to soldiers and chaplains presenting on Soldier Wellness and Suicide Prevention; Psychological First Aid; Counseling Veterans; and the Grief & Trauma of Superheros. Dr. Mitchell has had held various positions in the GSDF, is a former Commander, and currently serves as a Chaplain.
