Focus Area - a Degree Designed around Your Area of Interest
The D.Min. degree at PTS is a degree in the general practice of ministry
Focus Area. Students are expected to identify specific ministry practices to which they are called and gifted.
Each student must then identify one ministry practice upon which to focus his or her studies. These include, but are not limited to:
Leadership
Preaching
Teaching
Counseling
Evangelism
OR students may identify another specialized area of ministry. These include, but are not limited to:
Youth
Children
Benevolence
Discipleship
Focus Area Electives (9 hours, or three courses). Students develop an individualized study plan for their chosen focus area in dialogue with the DMIN Director. The focus area plan includes three elective courses chosen in part to provide scholarly resources needed for the project. The plan is subject to the approval of the DMIN director. It will include the identification of three courses (9 hours of credit) that fit together to address the student’s focus area. For example, if the focus area is counseling, all 9 hours must be courses related to the specific areas of counseling that will help the student complete his or her dissertation. If the focus area is discipleship, all 9 hours must be completed in courses related to the specific areas of discipleship that will help the student complete his or her dissertation.
